At just a few years into his career, rapper OBSXRD is already making waves in the music scene with his raw talent and unapologetic style. We caught up with the young artist to talk about his journey into music, what sets him apart, and what fans can expect next.
A Lifelong Passion for Music
OBSXRD's love affair with music began at a very young age. "I got into music at a hella young age," he shares. "It's always been my passion to create and have someone grasp onto my art the same way I've done to my own favorite artists, so I always strive to better myself every day as an artist." This dedication to his craft is evident in the emotion and authenticity he pours into each track.
Staying True to Himself
In an industry where image often seems to take center stage, OBSXRD refuses to be swayed by trends or pressured into conforming to a certain look. "I don't create for a specific look," he asserts. "I create for me and for people that will understand the same topics I relay in the songs. Everyone got their own story." This commitment to staying true to himself and his art is part of what makes OBSXRD so compelling.
Powerful Lyrics and Upcoming Releases
OBSXRD's lyrics are known for their raw honesty and unflinching portrayal of his experiences. One of his most potent lines to date comes from his recent single "Digital $XRD": "I can't fuck wit no one / All these bitches opps / I'ma stay down / Now they finally hearing what I say now." The lyric speaks to his determination to stay focused on his goals and ignore the haters.
Fans won't have to wait long for new music from OBSXRD. His latest single, "Hypnotized," drops on November 22nd. The song was inspired by a vivid dream in which he saw a girl and lost her. "I was looking for her everywhere and couldn't find her," he recounts. "Woke up the next morning and got to work lol." The track promises to be just as impactful as his previous releases.
Merchandise and Future Projects
In addition to new music, OBSXRD is also working on expanding his brand. He's currently developing clothing merchandise and rolling papers for his label/brand, Death Factory Records/Black Swamp Entertainment. These ventures will allow fans to further connect with his vision and support him on his journey.
OBSXRD's next project is shaping up to be his most exciting yet. "My next project is definitely gonna be a lil more darker and heavier than the last," he hints. "Another mini album. I have a title and already in the middle of working on it and I do have a title but not gonna give that info till it's a better time. Till then I might drop a lil side project before the official project tho so y'all can definitely be on the lookout for that." With his relentless drive and unwavering dedication to his art, there's no doubt that OBSXRD will continue to rise to new heights.
