Inspired by the Struggle

The inspiration behind “Racing” came during one of the most difficult chapters in Odi 10K’s life. After losing everything and falling deep into debt from failed business ventures, he found himself at rock bottom. “I was in a dark place in my life. I lost everything I had and was in debt a lot of money. I started hustling and going hard, and my life changed,” he shares. That transformation from struggle to success became the core of the single, capturing the hunger, hustle, and emotional weight of that climb back to the top.

More Than Music: It’s His Story

While Odi has always kept it real in his music, “Racing” hits different. Unlike some of his earlier work, which may have focused more on vibes or celebration, this one is rooted in his personal journey. “This track has a lot of emotion,” he says. “I’m telling my story about what it was like growing up, moving back and forth between Inglewood and Huntsville, Alabama. Hustling 18-hour days, stacking money just to get in a better environment.”

Odi paints a vivid picture of that struggle—living in a trap studio in Hollywood with no bathroom, grinding to stay afloat. Fast forward a year, and he’s in a whole different world: cruising the city in a Beamer, living in the Hills, and making real money. The contrast is stark, and it’s what makes the track resonate.

The Team Behind the Heat

Behind the production of “Racing” is Niffty, Odi’s longtime friend and collaborator. The two share a deep creative chemistry. Niffty, who’s known for shooting the viral “Bust Down Thotiana” video for Blueface and working with many LA artists, cooked up the beat that became the foundation for Odi’s powerful storytelling. The connection between the two adds to the authenticity of the track.

A Message of Hope and Focus

At its core, “Racing” is a motivational track. Odi isn’t just flexing success—he’s telling the listener that change is possible. “I want people to know that you can be at your lowest and your situation can change overnight as long as you keep your mind intact,” he says. “Partying and girls always gonna be around, but focus on your money and family first.”

That message is deeply embedded in the lyrics, especially in his favorite bar:
“This time last year I lost everything, now I feel like I can buy anything.”
It’s a testament to how fast things can flip when you keep grinding and stay resilient.

When it came to recording “Racing,” Odi said it all came naturally. “No challenges. I was comfortable, and that creative feeling came, and I was just able to express myself,” he says. That ease and flow can be felt in the delivery of the song—it’s real, unforced, and heartfelt.

This single isn’t just a one-off; it’s part of something bigger. “It’s an important part of my catalog because it’s authentic to me,” Odi explains. “It’ll most likely be on my upcoming project this summer.” Fans can expect the same honesty, raw energy, and storytelling throughout the tape, giving them a deeper look into who Odi 10K really is.

To match the weight of the track, Odi is also dropping a music video for “Racing” on Friday, April 18th at 6 PM Pacific Time.
