At just 32 years old, Trent Whitaker has already made a significant mark on the creative landscape of Southwest Florida. Hailing from Fort Myers, Florida, Trent is the founder of Pixel Perfect Flight, a media company that has quickly gained traction in its first year of operation. With a passion for storytelling through visual content, Trent's company has helped local businesses create engaging media while also supporting emerging artists in the area. We had a chance to ask Trent a few questions while he was in New Orleans filming for one of his latest projects.

Q&A with Trent Whitaker

Q: What inspired you to start Pixel Perfect Flight?

A: My parents make short films and I have always been fascinated by movies. I noticed that a lot of businesses in my area had horrible social media presence and I saw a niche I could fill.

Q: How has your first year in business been?

A: It’s been crazy. It’s hard to believe that less than a year ago. I started this thing and already I’ve helped over 60 local businesses and lots of local artists. It’s not even work to me. It’s genuinely something I love to do. My idea of relaxation is sitting in front of the computer and editing everything that I shot that day. I think that passion translates to everyone that I meet. All of my clients never question my creative decisions and sometimes I’ll ask for guidance and almost all of them give me full creative control so I guess that means I’m doing something right.

Q: Can you tell us more about your work with local artists?

A: So our music scene has been trash in Fort Myers for lots of years. Just not a lot of local support if you know what I mean? Starting to change recently, though we’ve had a couple local artist organize some events. My buddy Sean Cala is part of this movement called 239 takeover with another local artist named Lotti. They’re starting to get people to notice what we got going on in the city. Rick Ross is showing love on IG so big things are happening. Another local artist named Reek is someone who I believe in a lot. I’ve got a lot of projects with him in the works some stuff that’s never really been done before in Fort Myers so you guys need to stay tuned for that.

Q: What types of projects have you worked on so far?

A: I started with a lot of restaurant promotions. I noticed a lot of them just posted pictures of their food and I always have to tell the owners of these restaurants about Red Bull. Red Bull has millions of followers on all social media platforms. People don’t go to Red Bull‘s Instagram to see pictures of cans. They go there because of the crazy stunts and entertainment that they’re known for. And then I had a couple local artists reach out to me some of whom I was already listing too, and they trusted in the vision, and the rest was kind of history. I think shooting a music video can be done in 1 million different ways but a big part of what I do is color and I think that resonates with people who are tired of too much craziness and too much BS going on. I focus a lot on with the project makes you feel like and what is the story that we’re trying to tell? You know?

Q: Who are your influences in the media industry?

A: I draw inspiration from several creators, but two who stand out are Cole Bennett from Lyrical Lemonade and Scotty Friedman, the mastermind behind BLP Kosher's music videos. Scotty is an absolute beast. And of course Cole brings something to music videos that’s just never existed before. He uses a lot of textures and tell stories literally like no one else.

Q: What are your future goals for Pixel Perfect Flight?

A: I don’t want pixel perfect flight to be put into a box of just marketing or content creation or even just music videos. Literally anything with a camera we can make happen. Our delivery time is out of this world. Everything I shoot I go straight home and edit. I’m kind of a freak of nature in that sense that I will give you a finish product probably same day if I can. That’s what set us apart. That’s why people call us.

Q: What advice would you give to aspiring media creators?

A: My advice would be to stay true to your vision and never stop learning. The industry is constantly evolving, and it's important to adapt and innovate. Connect with other creatives, take risks, and don’t be afraid to share your work. Building a network and collaborating with others can lead to amazing opportunities.
