Emmitt Dupree Honors Nipsey Hussle with Motivational West Coast Anthem “Victory Laps”

For Emmitt Dupree, music is more than just expression—it’s purpose, legacy, and a vessel for motivation. His latest single, “Victory Laps,” is a powerful statement wrapped in West Coast sonics, offering tribute to the late Nipsey Hussle while simultaneously pushing forward his own journey as an artist determined to make his mark. This track is more than a song—it’s a mindset, a lifestyle, and an example of what persistence, faith, and collaboration can build.

Born on March 31, the same day the world tragically lost Nipsey Hussle, Emmitt found a deep spiritual and motivational connection with the L.A. rapper. Nipsey’s message, grounded in his “T.M.C.” philosophy—The Marathon Continues—became a guiding light for Emmitt. “My father always told me, ‘IT DON’T STOP,’ which always stuck with me,” Emmitt shares. “When I learned more about Nipsey’s mindset and how he operated, it was like everything aligned. He was proof that brick by brick, you can build anything if you just don’t stop.”

That sentiment flows throughout “Victory Laps.” The title itself is symbolic—a nod to seeing the finish line after enduring struggle after struggle. It represents not just celebration but survival, progression, and victory in its most honest form. “I wanted to flip the energy,” Emmitt says. “March 31 shouldn’t be a day of mourning—it should be a day of appreciating the blueprint Nipsey left and living with intention. This song is my way of honoring that, of celebrating the journey no matter how tough it gets.”

Sonically, “Victory Laps” leans deep into the West Coast energy—smooth yet focused, laid-back yet powerful. Produced by DJ HMD, who normally works behind the boards himself, the track has an airy but driven feel that allows Emmitt’s message to breathe. “HMD started the production on this one, which is rare because I usually do my own,” he explains. “But once we started building the sound, we knew it needed that West Coast bounce and clarity to let the message hit.”

Adding to the weight of the track is a standout feature from rising California heavyweight Jayson Cash. For Emmitt, this was a full-circle moment. “Getting Jayson on the song was something I thought might be challenging,” he admits. “But he’s one of the realest people I’ve worked with. He didn’t just hop on the track, he fully embraced the vision. Even helped us get the Nipsey mural locations for the video shoot out in L.A.”

Shot by Tyler and Praject Vision, the music video for “Victory Laps” is visually captivating and spiritually aligned. Set against iconic murals of Nipsey Hussle in California, the visuals showcase Emmitt and Jayson paying homage while walking in the legacy’s footsteps—literally. The shoot itself was made possible through a blend of authentic relationships and passion for the craft. “Me and HMD are from Arizona, so pulling off a Cali shoot required a lot of coordination. But again, Jayson made it easy. It felt more like family than business.”

That family feeling is central to everything Emmitt is building. This track is part of a larger collaborative EP, curated by DJ HMD, who helped bring all the moving parts together. From the production to connecting with Jayson Cash, HMD’s handprint is all over the project. “This is a team effort,” Emmitt emphasizes. “DJ HMD is the glue. He’s connected with a lot of West Coast talent and has been instrumental in helping me align my sound and message with the right people.”

While “Victory Laps” is still gaining traction, the early response is overwhelmingly positive. Fans are gravitating toward the heartfelt message and the easy-listening vibe that still packs lyrical weight. “A lot of people are telling me it’s motivational, that it’s something they can ride to and feel inspired by,” Emmitt says. “That’s exactly what I was aiming for.”

At its core, “Victory Laps” is a reminder to keep going. It's a personal anthem for anyone who’s been tested, doubted, or on the verge of quitting. It’s for the people still running their marathon. With this track, Emmitt Dupree isn’t just dropping music—he’s planting a flag in the soil of motivation and West Coast legacy.

What makes “Victory Laps” truly special is how it embodies a higher purpose. It’s not just about bars or beats—it’s about belief. It’s about understanding that victory doesn’t come overnight, but through staying the course. “The victory laps are around the corner at the moment you feel like quitting,” Emmitt says. “So keep pushing.”

That message—simple, powerful, and raw—is why “Victory Laps” is resonating. And if the song is any indication of what’s to come, Emmitt Dupree’s marathon is just getting started.
